French games site Jeux Video believe that Ubisoft’s upcoming Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will support Natal on the Xbox 360. Citing unnamed sources, they report the game includes a special mode that takes advantage of Natal’s motion-recognition capabilities. The goal, allegedly, is to be able to play the game using a controller in one hand, while using your free hand to interact with the interface, part of which involves giving orders through hand gestures.
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is a multiplatform game across PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii. Since the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions are both being developed at Ubisoft Paris, it should be interesting to see whether the team includes support for the PlayStation Move as well, as the game is scheduled to release this holiday season, by which time both Move and Natal will be out in the hands of consumers.

A few days after an untimely leak on Xbox Live, Epic Games has now officially announced Gears of War 3 for next April. Details are scant (though Edge speculates on possible new gameplay features), but it will contain 4-player co-op and be an Xbox 360 exclusive. A trailer was released for the game, and designer Cliff Bleszinski had this to say:
"When we released Gears of War more than three years ago, we set out to tell the world an unforgettable story of bravery and sacrifice in the face of insurmountable odds, and a year from now, players will get the chance to experience the final chapter in the story of Marcus Fenix and his companions in Delta Squad. This is definitely the biggest and most dramatic chapter yet in the Gears of War saga, and we can't wait to deliver it." http://games.slashdot.org/story/10/0...For-April-2011

Nintendo has won a long-running battle with Anascape over its complaint that the Wii manufacturer infringed its patent in the construction of the console's Classic Controller. The case was originally heard in East Texas in May 2008 and ruled that while the Wii Remote and Nunchuk didn't infringe on US patent 6,906,700, the Classic Controller did - and while Nintendo was subsequently banned from selling the peripheral in the US, the company immediately appealed, ensuring that it could remain in the shops until the appeal was resolved. But now a fresh jury has upheld the appeal by Nintendo and thrown out claims that the Classic Controller infringed that patent - despite both Sony and Microsoft settling with Anascape on the same subject in 2004 and 2008 respectively. "Today the Federal Circuit's ruling confirmed that none of Nintendo's controllers infringe," said Nintendo of America general counsel Rick Flamm. "We appreciate that our position has been vindicated." http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/nintendo-wins-appeal-on-patent-ruling |
