Tease as much as you want, Sony, but things get real serious when you flip to the other side and look at the magic behind Microsoft's Kinect camera. Recently, T3 was able to get behind the scenes for a quick lesson on how this Xbox 360 peripheral works, and as part of the tour, it also saw the innocent sensor sitting bare naked in the lab. As you can see above, this little device actually has a lot to pack in -- namely a RGB camera for facial recognition plus video capturing, a depth sensor (an infrared projector paired with a monochrome CMOS camera) for movement tracking, four downward-facing mics for voice recognition, a quiet motor in the bulky base for rotation, and all the circuitry components to link them up. Head over to the source link for a detailed briefing -- but we all know you're just gonna go straight to the gallery of Redmond's naughty pics.

Although the bundle has yet to be announced, a 250GB Xbox 360 / Kinect bundle can be seen on Microsoft's Australian packaging for the 4GB Xbox 360 / Kinect box.

The 250GB bundle appears to be very similar to the matte 4GB bundle, with the exception of the larger capacity hard drive, a glossy finish, and the inclusion of a headset. It isn't clear what game comes with the bundle, though it's most likely Kinect Adventures, the standard offering in both the standalone Kinect package and the 4GB Xbox bundle. The 250GB model also has the following note: "Hard Drive includes game and demos." The demos we're used to, but it seems that Microsoft may be foregoing an extra disc and putting the pack-in game on the hard drive itself.

We're following up with Microsoft for more details, pricing and – yes – international release plans.

Sony's latest Firmware seems to have added yet another feature to the PlayStation 3 - a new PSN wide notification system.

A PS3 user has received a message from a sender with the PSN id: [PSN] regarding an issue with a PSN title. The message contained an attachment that linked to the game on the PSN Store, indicating that the message came from Sony.

The new system seems to allow Sony to communicate with PlayStation Network at large, or perhaps a certain group of users.

The latest PS3 firmware was originally dismissed as insignificant, but it was quickly discovered that the update added a new patching system, making this the second hidden feature to be included.

However, the firmware also introduced a rather annoying bug that caused a number of HDD issues.

channel 4's free telly service, which includes The Ali G Show, The Inbetweeners and Fonejacker, could come to the PlayStation 3.

Talks between Sony and Channel 4 are at an early stage, apparently.

4 on Demand, which works like the BBC iPlayer – already on the PS3 – includes world class shows Hollyoaks, Deal or No Deal, and... Gulp... Location, Location, Location.

Channel 4 is currently looking to take its on demand digital service to other platforms following its success on Virgin Media's on demand service and YouTube, and Sony's PS3 could be one of them, TechRadar reports.

If true, Channel 4 would be the first commercial TV station to come to the PS3.

The report is based on an article in Broadcast magazine.

"We're looking to launch on the PS3," a source said.

"4oD is becoming a platform agnostic product and will be successful because of the quality of the content."

Carmel McQueen agrees.
