Gameshastra has teamed up with Future Publishing to give away free copies of its PSP Mini title, D-Cube Planet. The action-puzzler, usually worth £2.49, will be available to consumers through the second episode of Future’s innovative on-console games show FirstPlay, which goes live on PSN tomorrow.
“We’re delighted to partner with FirstPlay to offer its users a special free gift,” said Gameshastra CEO Prakash Ahjua. “D-Cube Planet has been a tremendous hit with consumers since its launch late last year, and we’re hopeful that many more people will fall for its charms with this fantastic promotion.”
FirstPlay editor-in-chief Tim Clark added: “Each week, our focus is to show gamers the most exciting things on PlayStation systems, and thanks to Gameshastra, we can throw open the world of PSP Minis to gamers who haven’t experience a game like D-Cube Planet themselves.

“The response to our launch episode has been great, and we’re actively listening to gamers, through direct feedback from their PS3 and our social media channels. FirstPlay will continue to evolve, and early adopters can help us shape the future of Europe’s only on-console interactive show.”

Since Samurai Shodown Sen is in stores, what is Xseed working on now? Apparently, something for PSP.

“We’re going to give you a lot more reasons to own a PSP soon, why not just give in to the temptation now,” an Xseed employee posted on Facebook in response to a Lunar: Silver Star Harmony inquiry.

“A lot more” sounds like more than one PSP game. Hmm… wonder what these PSP projects could be.

Dengeki magazine publisher ASCII Media Works have announced a new Durarara!! adventure game for PSP via Dengeki’s game sites, titled Durarara!! 3way Standoff. No real details are available on the net just yet, except that the game will feature most of the original voice cast and will release in Summer 2010.

The latest issue of Dengeki Bunko, however, contains more information with screenshots, which super-tipper Anton sounded us off about from his ongoing trip to Japan. Durarara!! 3way Standoff is being developed by NetchuBiyori, who are also working on a Wii game, and a Spice & Wolf game for DS.

In the past, Dengeki have published other visual novel adventure games based on anime series under their DS Dengeki Bunko ADV — among others — brand. Baccano!, by the same author as Durarara!!, is one of them.
