2012's UK Top 100 Video Games

Call of Duty: Black Ops II and FIFA 13 were comfortably the No.1 and No.2 sellers last year. In contrast, there were five million sellers in the UK in 2011 – Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Zumba Fitness, FIFA 12, Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3.
41 of the Top 100 games of last year were released in 2011, which also highlights the lack of new titles retail received during the last 12 months.
New IP didn’t fare well. In terms of 2012 releases, there are just five new IPs in the charts. The best seller was Sleeping Dogs at No.20,
A trend last year saw more games released on Tuesdays or Wednesday as publishers created ‘event’ launches around specific titles. Some retailers told MCV?last year that this was logistically challenging, but still: six of the Top Seven games were non-Friday releases.
Finally, Warner Bros has become a Top Ten publisher following strong sales of its LEGO and Batman games. There are seven LEGO games in the Top 100.
