Onto The Review:
The 248 FC Games Classic Video Game System w/ 2 Wired Gamepads is as it sounds a console that supports Nes/Famicom games and has 248 built in.
The console itself is selling for $18.99 or £12 in my money which is very cheap and thats with free shipping, how on earth do they make it pay.
On opening the box the console itself had 2 joypad ports on the front, a power and rest button on top and power and av ports on the back, there was no memory card slots to put your own games on, for those of us who like our faves all together it would have been great but remembering the price, you cant expect miracles.
The console itself was very light and you can tell its made to keep costs down, so you get what you pay for but its the games what matter.
Unlike the photos above the 248 FC Games Classic Video Game System now comes with plain Black joypads rather than the ones in the photo, the joypads are very light and are similiar to a PSone joypad. The joypads do what they need to do without having to be special in anyway.
The Consoles power lead has a 2 pin connection on it so you will need an adapter but most of us have one these days so not a biggy, finally the display is via a yellow and red av leads so just mono sound this time.
The amount of games is impressive but remember these are Famicom/Nes Games and to me most of them are early releases, the games are unique theres no duplication but there are some Hacked/Pirate games amongst them.
With any console that is of the 4/8/16 bit era you can play on todays Tvs but the graphics look way better on an old CRT tv. I tried a good 80 games and all bar one loaded, some of the games like Pacman, Mario, Bomberman, Double Dragon, Contra are major classics and theres a lot of obscure games ive never played before, there is no battery backup on games and you cant save states but unless your a retro gaming freak your just going to give each one a bit of playtime so although save states would have been nice its not a necessity.
The joypads even though are cheaply made do the job as needed although one gripe i do have is that the lead is really short, you cant sit too far away from the TV.
My 3 year old son loved the console to bits as he was trying new games galore and with the games coming from an era where more were simpler like Pacman and Tetris he found it enjoyable.
So Good Bad or Ugly
The 248 FC Games Classic Video Game System is a system thats aimed at the budget end of the market and whilst the build quality of the console and joypads is cheap and upgrading the console with roms cant be done, what it does have it its favour is the 248 games already on the console, many of the games are major retro classics and many like me you may have never heard of or played, theres also no savestate so that will kill the longevity of games like RPGs but i see this system as an ideal first console for children of the age of 3,4,5 and especially to those of us who were playing games in the Atari and Nes Eras and for the price of £12/$18.99 delivered if your into these type of games your going to get a lot out of them.
So even though it has low build quality it does have the sheer amount of games and to me its a thumbsup, would i pay the money for this, yes for sure but you would have to be a fan of retro to admire this.
