Console Hardware News one of the oldest sites at DCEmu is now focused only on Retro Homebrew, Hardware and romhacks/translations, today we have took away the General gaming news away from it so it can focus on just one area.
This is the final refocusing of the DCEmu sites, from this moment on we will be working on all sites to make them more featured on the console or area for which they are aimed at. hopefully it wont take me years to sort out, all of our sites will eventually have the new improved look that Martin our server admin made for us.
thanks for your time

Another change today is that DCEmu.com now only features news from the General Gaming and Current Affairs News forum, with google clamping down on what they deem as duplicate content we now cant have PSP news etc on the DCEmu.com site as it means the whole network loses out in google rankings, so from today im making sure we are as compliant as we can be within reason.
So from now on DCEmu.com will feature news that isnt specific to one console and that means that theres going to be a lot less messing about looking for the news you want.

Recently ive had a good think about the sites here at DCEmu and ive unmerged many of those that i merged together last year (should leave alone really).
One site thats a lot better for it is our Import Gadgets & Games site at http://hongkong-gaming.dcemu.co.uk/
Our Import Gadgets and Games site features the very best in new gadgets from the likes of ChinaVision and Lightake and other companies from China and Japan.
The amount of new gadgets and Gizmos released is over 50 a day and theres a massively wide range to look at, so if your into the weird and wacky stuff from Asia then its worth visiting maybe a couple of times a day to check it out.

Saints Row 4 was finally deemed acceptable to be sold in Australia today, having previously been denied classification twice by the territory's ratings board. The listing isn't currently on the Australian Classification Board's site, but publisher Deep Silver provided us with a statement confirming a reworked version of the game earned, in a curious twist, the MA15+ rating rather than the adult-only R18+ rating it failed to achieve previously.
Deep Silver said developer Volition removed one 20-minute mission in the reworked version, and noted the 'Rectifier' anal probe weapon, which the ACB also raised concern over, will be available in a DLC pack "as originally intended." Deep Silver's statement reads:Deep Silver and [local distributor] AIE are pleased to report that the Australian Classification Board has now approved Saints Row IV for sale. They have granted the game a MA15+ rating. To achieve this rating one loyalty mission featuring the character Shaundi has been removed. This mission has been widely reported on and contains the use of alien narcotics to obtain certain superpowers. This mission represents approximately 20 minutes of gameplay out of the hours available to purchasers. The removal of this mission has no negative impact on the story or the superpowers and will not detract from the enjoyment players will get from their Saints Row IV experience. The rectifier weapon will be available as part of a DLC package as originally intended. Deep Silver respects this decision and thanks the Australian Classification Board for their assistance with this matter. Back in June, Volition's over-the-top sandbox adventure became the first game to be refused classification by the ACB following the long-lobbied-for introduction of the R18+ rating. Deep Silver requested the ACB re-review the decision, which the rating board did last week when it once again denied the game classification.
Today's news means the saga is finally at an end, and the game can and will be sold in the Australian territory; Deep Silver confirmed to Joystiq the Australian release date remains August 22. Elsewhere, The Xbox 360, PS3, and PC game comes to North America on August 20, and Europe on August 23.

Remember those "Fortaleza" AR glasses we saw in a leaked Microsoft document back when the Xbox One was still the Xbox 720? It looks like those might actually be a thing, if a patent application from Redmond is any indication. It touts the idea of "multiplayer gaming with a head-mounted display," claiming the device could receive voice commands, track your eyes, calculate depth and recognize the faces of fellow players. All that would be in the rather narrow service of letting you invite others and accept invitations to a game through strictly visual means, though. That makes it similar to another recent Microsoft patent we saw for augmenting live events with AR,since the emphasis is on a specific usage rather than the eyewear itself. We might even see an application some day for actual gaming on such a device, but meanwhile, check after the break for more images.

It is sold out at Amazon. It is sold out at Best Buy online. It is sold out at the 16 Best Buy stores closest to my home in North Carolina. The nearest Best Buy availability is in Roanoke, Va. (Amazon and Best Buy are the retail outlets sanctioned by Google.) You can buy it directly from Google at the Play Store, but as of this writing, the wait time for shipping has been extended to three to four weeks.
In a world where people line up for hours to buy a $500 tablet, selling out a $35 dongle isn't necessarily a milestone, or an indicator of anything significant. But I'll hammer a prediction stake into the ground: Chromecast will create change in media consumption habits disproportionate to its price. Its power will come partly from its tech-candy pricing, but only partly. This little invention hits a few other sweet spots.

Dapper Vision's OpenGlass project sees Google Glass' camera as useful for more than just hands-free pictures -- it's a tool for interpreting the world around us. To show that potential, the two-person group has tested two of its Glass apps with visually impaired wearers. The first, Question-Answer, lets the poor-sighted ask both Mechanical Turkand Twitter for help in identifying objects. Memento, in turn, automatically recites notes when the user looks at a recognizable scene; it can warn users about dangerous equipment, for example. Dapper Vision tells us that the OpenGlass apps will stay in limited testing until Google lets developers offer Glassware to the general public, but the company isn't sitting still in the meantime. It's devising a way to reward Question-Answer contributors with BitCoins, and it will demonstrate new Glass-basedaugmented reality software next week.

Our Chrome browser thinks it’s a Chromecast dongle. Here’s a screenshot of it playing a YouTube video. Note the tile banner and onscreen controls which are just like the ones you’d see on the actual hardware. Give it a try yourself by downloading the Leapcast Python package which [dz0ny] programmed.
After cloning the GitHub repo we had a few problems compiling the package. Turns out we needed to install python-dev and that took care of it. Starting the daemon is a simple command, we specified our Chrome binary path as well as added a few flags
1 |
leapcast --name HAD --chrome /usr/bin/google-chrome --fullscreen
|
Once that was running the Android YouTube app automatically detected Leapcast as a Chromecast device. It gave us a tutorial overlay mentioning the new share icon on the interface. Pressing that icon during playback launched an Incognito window which played the video. [dz0ny] links to a device config JSON file in the README. If you check it out you’ll notice that Netflix is listed as “external” while the others are not. This is because the Chromecast protocol uses a binary for Netflix. The others do it with local websockets or a cloud proxy so they work just fine with this setup.

Activision CEO expects to see more innovation and new experiences on next-gen consoles
The lifecycle of the PS4 And Xbox One will be as long as the current generation of consoles, says the CEO of Activision.
The PS3 and Xbox 360 were launch in 2005 and 2006, making the eight-year cycle the longest in console history, and Bobby Kotick has said he expects the same from new hardware.
Speaking during the publisher’s earnings call, as reported by GamesIndustry, Bobby Kotick said he felt consumers were as excited about the new generation of hardware as the previous cycle.
He added that, thanks to an improvement in hardware and new features, developers were able to innovate and create “new kinds of software that has not been available in the current generation”.
“My sense is consumers are going to be excited about this hardware and I think over the long-term that it will probably be as long as the current cycle,” he stated.

EA and developer DICE have confirmed a rough release window for multiplayer title Star Wars: Battlefront.
The game is due out in summer 2015 – which more than likely means it will be out around the same time as Disney’s much anticipated Star Wars VII movie.
"We have partnered with Walt Disney and LucasFilm to develop a whole new generation of Star Wars games for the console as well as for mobile and handheld devices," EA CFO Blake Jorgensen told investors, as reported byVideogamer.
"The first game that we're focused on is Battlefront. It's a traditional game that's done extremely well and this will most likely come out around the same time as the Star Wars movies start to come out, probably in the summer of '15.”
Can we also conclude from that that Disney is not planning a console-based movie title? Or will that be reserved for smartphones?

[h=1]Phil Rogers, CEO for Square Enix Europe and America, has spoken out about the publisher's platform priorities going forward.
In an official blog post – in which he confirms a next-gen Tomb Raider sequel – the exec states the firm is categorically "not abandoning core, triple-A console and PC games".
He said his comments were in response to "speculation and commentary made this year about Square Enix's strategy in the Americas and Europe" – no doubt partly referring to the mixed reaction to iOS title Deus Ex: The Fall, a title many expected would be a retail sequel.
Last week, Eidos Montreal boss Stephane D'Astous quit because of Square Enix's "lack of leadership, lack of courage and lack of communication".
"I know we've not outwardly comment or addressed [our strategy], so some folk may be confused about what we're actually doing," he wrote.
"First and foremost, we are a games company and today we devote most of our time and effort into developing new and rich gameplay experiences, worlds and characters.
"At the same time new business models have risen up, which we periodically will try to explore. I know this can be frustrating for some long-time fans of our games, particularly if it seems that we’re heading in unfamiliar directions without much in the way of explanation. Explaining our approach to these opportunities is something we’re working to improve on.
"That said, we need to experiment and adapt or it’s likely we won’t always be in a position to keep investing in the ways we need, to build-out our games and offer excellence to you, our gamers."
Rogers went on to explain that Square Enix is "working hard at improving how we develop and release games", starting with studio restructuring.
All of the publisher's studios have recently been reorganised, taking administrative duties away from studio heads so that they can focus on production.
"We believe this will improve not only the quality of our games, but also improve the time between releases," Rogers added.
He also emphasised the number of games the publisher has in production, including the new Tomb Raider, Thief, Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III.
The CEO promised to "share a fuller title release plan soon", which will include next-gen core titles, tablet and mobile games and online-only PC games.

The EFF posted a biting response to yesterday's Ninth Circuit ruling that heavily weights celebrities' right to privacy, and construes that right very broadly. From the EFF summary of the case: "The plaintiff, Sam Keller, brought the case to challenge Electronic Art (EA)'s use of his likeness in its videogame NCAA Football. This game includes realistic digital avatars of thousands of college players. The game never used Keller’s name, but it included an avatar with his jersey number, basic biographical information, and statistics. Keller sued EA claiming that the game infringed his right of publicity — an offshoot of privacy law that gives a person the right to limit the public use of her name, likeness and/or identity for commercial purposes. ... Two judges on the panel found that EA’s depiction of Keller was not transformative. They reasoned that the 'use does not qualify for First Amendment protection as a matter of law because it literally recreates Keller in the very setting in which he has achieved renown.'" The piece later notes that this reasoning "could impact an extraordinary range of protected speech."

Google Glass invites have been sent out in the US, encouraging more users to wear the smart glasses with a built-in camera.
Early adopters of the Glass Explorer program have received the following email from Google, reports Mashable: "We love demoing Glass to our friends. We've perfected our 'OK Glass, take a picture' faces so that the shot captures us smiling, laughing and looking chic. Well, maybe not all at the same time.
"Mostly, we love sharing Glass with our friends, because adventures through Glass are more fun with others. Here's your chance to invite one friend into the Glass Explorer Program. Complete this form and share Glass with a friend, funny demo face and all."
The invites are currently limited to friends of people who already own Glass, and US residents at least 18 years old who can pick up a device in New York, Los Angeles or San Francisco.
Google has confirmed the new invites for Google Glass, and says these have been sent out to a "small" number of users.

One sad aspect of modern tech is that it's all but ruined our dreams of slinging dead trees for comic book money after school. However, gizmos have enabled a killer sequel to the . Using a smattering of electronics -- and a real bike! -- PaperDude VR is the followup we never knew we wanted. Joining an Oculus Rift VR headset, Microsoft Kinect and Wahoo Fitness KickR into a sweat-drenched union, PaperDude VR creates an almost zen-like experience of tossing newspapers, knocking down road barriers and busting windows.
Nostalgia's a powerful drug, and we'd love a ride to see if chasing the dragon of our youth is as good as we remember. Given developer Globacore's history though, the chances of seeing this outside a specialized kiosk are slim to none. Regardless, we have one niggling question: Do pixelated paperdudes dream of 8-bit dogs?

Google's $35 Chromecast fared well in our review, but something that could make it even more useful is the ability to stream pictures and video from mobile devices. Users have been able to work around that on PCs by entering info for locally stored files into the Chrome address bar, and now ClockworkMod developer Koushik Dutta is showing off a solution for mobile that closes the gap with AirPlay. Demonstrated in the video after the break, his Phone to Chromecast app can fling pictures or videos stored on the phone directly to the dongle -- apparently thanks to web server software he'd already created for Android. There's no specific word on the codecs or resolutions tested, but he reports videos work at full framerate "like magic." The only bad news? The preview SDK terms mean he can't distribute the APK without written permission from Google, so this demo is as close as we're getting for now.

Wondering what West Virginia and Britain have in common? This. After hearing that a bill in WV would outlaw Google Glass for motorists in the state, a new report fromStuff suggests that the United Kingdom is considering something comparable. A Department for Transport spokesperson was quoted as saying the following:"We are aware of the impending rollout of Google Glass and are in discussion with the Police to ensure that individuals do not use this technology while driving. It is important that drivers give their full attention to the road when they are behind the wheel and do not behave in a way that stops them from observing what is happening on the road."
He went on to affirm that a range of penalties already exist in order to punish drivers who aren't "paying proper attention to the road," and while a law has yet to be passed targetting Glass specifically, it certainly sounds as if that type of modification is on the table. Silver lining? North Korea has yet to issue a similarly depressing condemnation of the headset.
